Why Red Tent?
In ancient times across many cultures, menstruation was considered sacred. Cycles of women in the community often synced together. This time of bleeding was honored by retreating together to a tent or hut that offered rest and respite. Women would spend this time in spiritual connection with themselves, and each other. The tent was also where birth took place. The midwife and other women would join the mother in support until the baby was born. This tradition is beautifully portrayed in the story of The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, my inspiration for the name of my business. I don't suggest we strive for some sort of ancient ideal. Instead, I dare women to take back what is sacred and find their modern day support of the Red Tent.

My Philosophy
I am passionate about birth belonging to women; Every woman has the right to birth how they want and holds the authority in their experience. I deeply trust the physiological birth process, always striving to lead a mother to her intuition and body's wisdom as a guide.

"...Molly helped me feel confident going into my first homebirth and was amazing at keeping me calm and focused during labor and delivery. Thankful to have had her support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum." |
"Where do I even begin? As a FTM and birth nerd, finding the right doula was so important to me and our birth experience. From the moment I met Molly, I knew we'd be fast friends! Her knowledge, passion and compassion are so helpful and encouraging - she really made us feel prepared. Although our birth didn't go as planned, Molly was still there every step of the way providing amazing support and even a hand to hold. If you're looking for a doula, and one that truly believes in birth autonomy and the power and spirit of a woman's body in birth, then Molly is just who you are looking for" -SK 10/23/23 |
"Molly- you’re such a caring and helpful doula. I was so lucky to have you with me when [baby] decided to make her way into the world early! I could never thank you enough for all the love and support you showed baby & me– from my pregnancy concerns to [baby's] (unexpected!) home birth to your support for us at the hospital. Thank you thank you thank you." |
